We are committed…
…to God’s Mission to the World through the Preaching of the Gospel
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Mt. 28:19-20).
From the moment human beings plunged into sin, God revealed his mission to restore sinners to righteous fellowship with him. And it’s a mission driven by God’s sovereign initiative to seek and save the lost. He sought out Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden to clothe them. He called Abram out of his pagan idolatry, gave him faith to believe and obey, and promised through him to “bless all nations.” Now, in Christ, he calls all believers to participate in his worldwide mission of redemption: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Mt. 28:19-20).
Believers devote themselves individually and corporately to bringing the gospel to the world.
As God’s redeemed people, we embrace his commission to reach the lost. We believe we are “light to the nations” and the “salt of the earth" (Mt. 5:13-16; I Pt. 2:9-10). Believers devote themselves individually and corporately to bringing the gospel to the world (Mt. 28:18-20; Lk. 24:46-48; Jn. 20:21; Acts 1:8). We encourage the Christian mission to proceed in many ways, including:
- Worship that exalts Christ and offers him to all (I Cor. 14:25)
- Evangelism (Rom. 10:17)
- Prayer (Col. 4:2-4)
- Informal conversation (Col. 4:5-6; I Pet. 3:15)
- Deeds of love (Acts 2:42-47; 4:32-35)
- Caring for the poor (Deuteronomy 14:28-29)
- Through these and other means, our lives bear witness to God’s grace and Christ’s kingdom
